Paving Cape Town (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”). This policy explains what information we collect when you use pavingcapetown.co.za, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your data.

Paving Cape Town arranges paving work in Cape Town. The paving itself is carried out by independent paving installers — we do not lay paving ourselves and we employ no pavers. That matters for your privacy because your enquiry is passed to those installers, so please read “Who We Share It With” below — that sharing is how the service works. The arrangement is set out in full on our disclaimer page.

What Personal Information We Collect

When you request a quote or contact us via our website, we collect only the information you voluntarily submit through our forms, which may include:

• Your name
• Your phone number
• Your email address
• The suburb or area where the work is required
• The type of paving service you are interested in
• Any message, project details or photographs you choose to share

We do not knowingly collect special personal information (as defined in POPIA) and we do not collect information from children under 18 without parental consent.

Why We Collect It (Lawful Basis)

We process your personal information for the following purposes:

• To respond to your quote request or enquiry — lawful basis: your consent, given when you submit the form.
• To pass your enquiry to independent paving installers so they can quote you — lawful basis: your consent, given when you submit the form. This is the core purpose of the site.
• To follow up with you about your enquiry — for example to check whether anyone actually contacted you — lawful basis: our legitimate interest in providing the service you asked for.
• To keep records of enquiries for accounting and dispute-resolution purposes — lawful basis: legal obligation and legitimate interest.

We do not use your information for marketing or advertising profiling, and we do not sell or licence it to data brokers, advertisers or mailing lists. Nobody receives your phone number or email address unless they take your enquiry on — the next section sets out exactly what is shared, with whom and when.

Who We Share It With

Independent paving installers. This is the main one, and it is how the service works. When you submit an enquiry we send a short preview of it — your first name, your suburb, the type of work, the rough size if you gave one, whatever you wrote in the project-details box, and a partially hidden phone number showing only its last four digits — to the independent paving installers who cover your area and do that kind of work. Your email address is not in that preview. When one of them takes your enquiry on, we release your full name, phone number and email address to that installer. More than one may take it on, so you could be contacted by more than one. Each installer is an independent business and becomes responsible for your information in its own right from that point — their own privacy practices apply, not ours. If you would rather not be contacted by a particular installer, tell us and we will ask them to stop, though we cannot force an independent business to act.

We also share your information with the following operators who help us run the website and deliver your enquiry:

• Cloudflare — website hosting, DNS and security. Cloudflare may process limited connection metadata (IP address, browser type) for security and abuse prevention.
• Supabase — the database where your enquiry is stored so we can route it and answer any query you raise about it.
• Resend — transactional email delivery. Used to send your confirmation email, to alert us, and to send installers the enquiry preview and (on claim) your contact details.

Each of these operators is contractually bound to process personal information only on our instructions and to maintain appropriate security safeguards. Some processing may occur on servers located outside South Africa; where this happens, we rely on safeguards permitted by section 72 of POPIA.

Cookies

Our website uses only essential cookies required for basic functionality (such as session and security tokens). We do not use advertising cookies, behavioural tracking cookies, or third-party analytics that profile you across sites. The one exception is Google Analytics, which sets cookies to help us understand in aggregate how visitors use this website; we do not sell this data.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We retain quote-request and contact details for 24 months from your last interaction with us, after which the records are deleted, unless we are required to keep them longer for accounting, warranty or legal reasons. You may request earlier deletion at any time (see “Your Rights” below).

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, unauthorised access and unlawful processing. This includes encrypted transport (HTTPS), restricted access to our internal inbox, and only sharing data with operators that offer comparable security guarantees. No system is 100% secure; if we ever become aware of a breach involving your information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as required by POPIA.

Your Rights Under POPIA

You have the right to:

• Access — ask what personal information we hold about you.
• Correction — ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or out of date.
• Deletion — ask us to delete your information, subject to any legal retention obligations.
• Objection — object to our processing of your information, including any processing based on legitimate interest.
• Withdraw consent — where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time (this does not affect prior lawful processing).
• Complain — lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@pavingcapetown.co.za. We will respond within a reasonable period and at most within the time required by POPIA.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new “Last updated” date at the top of the page. We encourage you to review it periodically.
